SILVER SAGE VILLAGE, BOULDER, CO
One of the fi rst senior cohousing communities to be built in the United States. Part
of the new Holiday Neighborhood in North Boulder, this 16-unit community is
situated around a garden court and features a 5,000 sf common house, a workshop,
a common deck and community gardens. Providing design services and some
construction documents. Construction completed 2007.
NEVADA CITY COHOUSING, NEVADA CITY, CA
A 34-unit community on 11 acres within walking distance of the small town
“Main Street” of Nevada City in the Sierra Foothills. Site plan also includes seven
single-family lots with seven carriage units for a total of 48 units. Providing full
architectural, project management and development services. Construction completed 2006.
COTATI COHOUSING, COTATI, CA
A mixed-use project located at the edge of a small downtown. This 30-unit
community shares a common house, garden and workshop and includes 7,500 sf
of commercial storefronts. Provided full architectural and project management and
development services. Construction completed October 2003.
TEMESCAL CREEK COHOUSING, OAKLAND, CA
Buying several buildings in an existing neighborhood, this 8-unit”retrofi t” cohousing
community added a new common house and will grow as neighboring houses
become available. Provided design and development services.
PLEASANT HILL COHOUSING, PLEASANT HILL, CA
A suburban in-fi ll site of 2.2 acres; the 32-unit community shares a 4,000 square foot
common house, a pool, garden and workshop. Provided full architectural, project
management and development services. Construction completed November 2001.
TEMESCAL COMMONS COHOUSING, OAKLAND, CA
A resident group combined two urban lots to develop an infi ll cohousing community.
One lot contains an old residence divided into two fl ats, four new homes and
a common house. Opening a fence to an adjacent property creates a 9-unit
community. The community incorporates many sustainable building techniques.
Provided full architectural services and development consulting. Construction
completed June 2000.
TOUCHSTONE COHOUSING, ANN ARBOR, MI
The third adjacent community in Ann Arbor’s cohousing neighborhood. 46 homes
on a 6-acre parcel next to the Great Oak and Sunward communities. Providing
design services for modular construction process. Currrently in the design phase.
GREAT OAK COHOUSING, ANN ARBOR, MI
A 37-unit community next to Sunward Cohousing. Provided design services.
Construction completed 2003.
HEARTHSTONE COHOUSING, NORTH DENVER, CO
This 33-unit cohousing community is the fi rst built as part of a “new urbanist”
planned unit development. The townhouse courtyard layout fi ts comfortably within
the new mixed-use neighborhood while maintaining a strong sense of community
within the cohousing site. Construction completed September 2001.
BELLINGHAM COHOUSING, BELLINGHAM, WA
32 townhouses cluster on a 5.8 acre site that includes over 2 acres of wetlands and a
stream. The original farmhouse was remodeled and incorporated into the common
house. Provided full architectural and project management services. Construction
completed June 2000.
PRAIRIE SKY COHOUSING, ALBERTA, CANADA
Located in the inner city community of Winston Heights near downtown Calgary.
18 units and a 3200 sf common house, with underground parking, on 0.75 acres.
Provided programming and schematic design. Construction completed June 2003.
METRO COHOUSING AT CULVER WAY, ST. LOUIS, MO
40 condominiums and a common house in historic factory buildings in St. Louis.
Includes live/work options and underground parking. Provided programming and
schematic design as well as the common house kitchen. Currently in design phase.
CASA VERDE COMMONS, COLORADO SPRINGS, CO
34 units and a 3000 sf common house on a 3 acre in-fi ll site, located near downtown.
Provided site programming. Winner of 2003 E* EPA/New Millennium Award for
energy-effi ciency.
MIDTOWN COHOUSING, DENVER, CO
Community of 18 courtyard condominiums and a common house on one-half acre
in an old, centrally-located neighborhood. Developed by a non-profi t developer in
conjunction with the residents, the community accommodates low, moderate, and
market-rate home buyers.
SONORA COHOUSING, TUCSON, AZ
36 courtyard homes on a 4.8 acre infi ll site in a low-income neighborhood share a
straw bale common house. The common house consists of three separate buildings,
tied together with porches, which create a comfortable courtyard for gathering.
Passive cooling was major consideration in the design. Completed 2001.
SWAN’S MARKET COHOUSING, OAKLAND, CA
Design and development consulting services for a 20-unit community adjacent to 18
units of affordable housing as part of a downtown, mixed-use project in the historic
Swan’s Market building. The development is an important anchoring point for new
infi ll development in downtown Oakland. Construction completed June 2000.
BERKELEY COHOUSING, BERKELEY, CA
Development project management and complete architectural services to resident
group to create a 14-unit community on a .75 acre site with several existing
buildings. Project included adding four new units, substantial renovation to four
units, and subdividing property as condominiums. Construction completed 1997.
THE DOYLE STREET COHOUSING COMMUNITY, EMERYVILLE, CA
A 12-unit cohousing community that reuses an existing brick industrial building
with a new second story. Provided complete architectural and project management
services Construction completed 1992.
RIVER ROCK COMMONS – COHOUSING ON THE POUDRE, FT. COLLINS, CO
Provided participatory programming and design services for 34-unit community
with 2500 sf common house on 4 acres, 5 blocks from Historic Downtown district.
Construction completed 2000.
WINDSONG, VANCOUVER, BC
Provided participatory programming, schematic design and design consultation
services to resident group and local architect for this 34-unit cohousing community.
First cohousing community with a glass-covered street in North America.
Construction completed July 1996.
HIGHLINE CROSSING, DENVER, CO
Provided programming, schematic design and design development drawings for
4000 sf common house as well as consulting on the site plan and unit design of this
36-unit cohousing community. Construction completed 1995.
CARDIFF PLACE, VICTORIA, BC, CANADA
Worked with group and developer’s architect to program and redesign plans for
turning a 17-unit condominium into a cohousing community. Extensive remodel
of an existing structure and new construction of a 4-story, 120-unit building.
Construction completed Fall 1994.
SUNWARD COHOUSING, ANN ARBOR, MI
Provided programming and design services for site plan and common house
for a 40-unit community on a 5-acre south-facing sloped site. Construction
completed 1998.
SOUTHSIDE PARK COHOUSING, SACRAMENTO, CA
A cohousing community of 25 townhouses and 2500 sf common house in downtown
Sacramento. The project worked closely with the City to provide affordable units.
Provided participatory programming, schematic design services, and development
consultation. Construction completed 1993.
MUIR COMMONS, DAVIS, CA
A cohousing community of 26 townhouses and 3600 sf common house. Provided
participatory programming and schematic design services. Construction completed 1991.
SAN JUAN COHOUSING, DURANGO, CO
Providing programming and design services for the site plan. The community is
clustered on a small portion of a 300-acre site.
WASATCH COHOUSING, SALT LAKE CITY, UT
Provided programming and design for site plan and common house for a 26-unit
community on a 4.2-acre site.
Construction completed 1998.
LIBERTY VILLAGE COHOUSING, FREDERICK, MD
Located on a 23-acre site at the edge of Libertytown with 15 acres of undeveloped
land. Provided programming and design services for a 3,900 sf common house.

Provided programming and design services for site plan and community facilities
of a 67-unit community on a 20-acre site near historic East Lake District of Atlanta.
